VERNER PANTON
Design by: Verner Panton
Design year: 1968
Verner Panton started out as a painter before studying architecture at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. After an apprenticeship with architect / designer Arne Jacobsen, Panton pursued a path in furniture and interior design, where he became famous for his avant-garde designs. Such as chairs with no legs and a sofa placed vertically against the wall. In the 60’s and 70’s, his passion for designing entire environments led to immersive interiors featuring his hypnotic patterns and futuristic designs for furniture, lighting, wallpapers, posters and rugs. Panton’s pioneering use of materials, colours and shapes earned him a reputation as a visionary.
For Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jørn Utzon, his father’s naval engineering drawings prompted a lifelong fascination with ships. Such interest is illustrated in Utzon JU1, a pendant with a distinctive collared shape and sharp lines that echo the industrial silhouette of a ship. First released in 1947, the Utzon pendant is available in two variants - Brass and White - and are crafted from lacquered brass and steel.
The JU1 Provides upward and downward illumination. Production Process: The metal shades are made from a combination of deep drawing and spinning.

Journey comes as both a table lamp and a wall lamp, with subtle color combinations that make it easy to place anywhere.
The Journey lamp is a merging of two classic geometric shapes, the sphere and the rectangle. The round, opal glass shade is reminiscent of the moon. Whether the moon is full or not, the intention is for you to enjoy the design and all the moods it can create.
